How long can I keep the book I have on loan?

The loan period is 30 days for students and authorized external users, and 60 days for doctoral students, research fellows, lecturers, University’s teaching staff and administrative technical staff.

Exceptions are course reserve books from the Humanities, Law, Economics, Politics, or Social Sciences libraries, which you can borrow for 15 days.

Loan renewals are possible up to a total of three times the original loan period directly from the personal area of Minerva, the University catalogue. Renewal is not possible if:

  • the book has been reserved by another user;
  • the book is overdue;
  • you have other overdue books or have returned other books past their due date;
  • you have reached the maximum renewal period.

To check whether a book is available for loan and how long you can keep it, you have to log in to Minerva with your University email credentials.

For further details, see the Borrowing: general information page on the University Library Service Portal.
